Terms of Service

Welcome to WPM Reader. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the WPM Reader application and services (the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Service.

1. Accounts

1.1 Account Creation

To use the Service, you must sign in with a supported third-party account (for example Google, Microsoft, X (Twitter), or Discord) through our authentication provider (Supabase). You must comply with that provider’s terms and policies, and you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activities that occur under it.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account for violations of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

1.4 Account Deletion by You

You may permanently delete your account from the Profile page in the app. Deletion is irreversible. When you confirm deletion (including by typing the required confirmation word and acknowledging these Terms), we will remove your user profile and, subject to our technical setup, your sign-in identity with our authentication provider. All data we store for your account that is designed to be removed with your profile will be deleted, including your documents, reading progress, reading sessions, and related records, except where we are legally required to retain minimal information.

If you have an active paid subscription, you are responsible for canceling billing (for example through Stripe or the billing portal) before or after deletion as applicable; we do not guarantee that account deletion alone will stop all future charges. You cannot delete another user’s account. Deletion actions are tied to the authenticated session that initiates them.

2. Subscriptions and Payments

2.1 Free Tier

The Service offers a free tier. Free tier features and limits may be modified at any time.

2.2 Paid Subscriptions

Paid subscriptions provide access to additional features. Plans and pricing are shown in the app and on our website. Payment is processed securely through Stripe.

2.3 Billing

Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled. You may cancel at any time through your account settings or billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

2.4 Refunds

We generally do not provide refunds for subscription fees. Refunds may be considered at our sole discretion on a case-by-case basis.

3. Acceptable Use

You may use the Service for lawful purposes to read and process your own documents and content for personal or professional use.

You retain all rights to the documents and content you upload ("User Content"). You are solely responsible for your User Content. By uploading User Content, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display it solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of your User Content.

We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all content, features, and functionality (excluding User Content), is owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

6. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that you will achieve any specific reading speed improvements.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WPM Reader and its officers, directors, and agents from any claims arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your User Content.

9. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access immediately, without prior notice, for breach of these Terms or for any other reason. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
